Being Creative

When I was a child I was not allowed nor encouraged to play with paints or any sort of materials that would create messes.  On a subconscious level this impacted my freedom of expression and took many years to overcome.   I seriously believed that I did not know how to paint or draw.  Talk about pinching one’s spirit.  It is clear to me now, how my interest in photography began.  It was safe, controlling and there are no messes, well outside of the darkroom! Once I learned to let go and allow, everything in my life transformed, even my images took on their own feel. 

Painting, drawing, writing is just a few of the examples of this new journey.  What I am discovering is that there are no limits and that it is never too late.  In pursuing my interests and passions, I have given myself permission to seriously play and make messes.  Perfection, judgments, criticisms have gone by the wayside. The outcomes have been surprising.  My latest creation, Life begets Life is a genuine reflection of my imaginative and playful spirit.  A mixed media (24x36) painting that incorporates color, imagery, and texture.  I will be selling a set of cards from this painting.  This is a sample.
